Two days ago, the first thought in my head as I woke up was that everyone I know is going to die--starting with a particular friend--I saw his face and saw he would die one day and was firmly on that train of thought before I even chose to be. This train sped along the track into another zone as I rested in bed, half awake: I am going to die. Not sure when. But this is true and this is absolutely inescapable.
We hear it all the time ... but you gotta think about it a while to feel it. And when you are forced to think about it, by waking up into it, you feel it. And actually, it's good for you to feel this--your impermanence--once in a while.
And if you aren't exactly where you want to be, you realize you've got to do everything to find a way to get there.
And if you're on your way to getting there, at least make sure you surround yourself with stuff you love and do things that help you live to the max--sense everything, feel everything, embrace everything ...
What is good, what is bad, it's all in your head
When you're up, when your'e down, you're on a tipped-up merry-go-round
When you're anxious, when you're certain, when it's time to draw the curtain
When you're trying not to regret, when you totally forget
When it hurts so good, when you know you should
When you think it's too late, when you know you'll never hate
When you eat something shitty stop right when you know, when the people in your life cause pain let them go
If it's dirty--clean it, if it's true--mean it
If the music's good--spank it, if it helps you--thank it
If you study hard--ace it, if it's what you gotta do--face it
Grab the bull by the horns, listen when the old folks warn
See the baby in the murderer, think twice before you hurt her
On the edge of impossible--find your Indiana Jones, when it's the right thing to do--you'll feel it in your bones
Every religion was designed by man--of course, so when you discover it's bullshit, use the force
