Prive Salon, SoHo, back in the day when it was open. My photo. Loved this Spock Warhol piece to bits.

Time to see siblings, parents, and the most loving matriarch a girl could ask for.

I'll be in NYC, Wisconsin, Nebraska and then perhaps stepping out of the country for the later half of September, returning to Miami in October for some Sanskrit.

The rest will be revealed in time!

Lisbon, Portugal: Healing the Divine Feminine and Masculine, Workshop with Kaypacha

Kaypacha

Kaypacha

I have been looking forward to meeting Kaypacha for a couple years now. He has done two chart readings for me and I am a member of his New Paradigm community, where I partake in many of his lectures and the beautiful guest lectures posted.

This workshop is dear to me for so many levels. It is necessary to begin this conversation, worldwide. Little by little--we are starting a ripple effect.

Overcoming thousands of years of patriarchal programming is challenging for both sexes. I have been working to heal from the confusion of these times, and this workshop looks like it will put me ahead. Blogging to come on the health coaching page!

Pranayama Intensive (Part 4) with Paul Dallaghan (Centered Yoga, Koh Samui, Thailand

pranayama-detail-and-practice.jpg

This year, we really went subtle. Paul took us deeper into our parasympathetic and contemplative zones than every before (in my observation). The discussions were rich on every front--from detailed anatomical slides and descriptions (Paul is getting his PhD at Emory and is eager to share his experience based on in-depth physiological study, research and networking with academic colleagues who are experts in a range of anatomical and physiological fields. Paul's experience, as always, shined through. As did his dedication.

We also went into the mental blocks to practice, the point of practice--not to focus on the self but to see the self in a larger context and fine tune the attention toward the center of one's being--a stable place from which to come at life. We discussed emotional challenges, the definition of prana in a physiological context and a lot of other controversial subjects. Lots of laughing and engaging. Brilliant!

We also took our chanting and japa practices deeper by exploring semi-audible and silent chant as a powerful set of techniques. He checked our pulses three times each (and sometimes more when he sat one-on-one with us) to observe the shifts taking place through the applied breathing and to get a good sense of what our prescription will be for the coming year.

Intro to Pranayama and Mindful Sitting with Yama Yoga YTTs

This is the second of a two-part workshop with this year's yoga teacher trainers in Doha. We will discuss basic anatomical considerations around breathing and how this relates to entry-level Pranayama techniques. We also discuss Pranayama in the wider context of yoga practices--how this helps one balance the nervous system as they develop openness and flexibility through Asana practice. And how this also relates to a seated practice.

Non-denominational chants are introduced in this session as well as how to use a metronome and count the breaths on the hands. Time permitting, kriyas are also explored.

Specifically, techniques to calm the nervous system are discussed by default at this entry level. A more personalized approach is available through an advanced teacher in a dedicated, immersion setting.

Travel: Mini Painting/Photography Sabbatical--Italy

Staglieno Cemetery, Italy

Staglieno Cemetery, Italy

I will be based in Florence but traveling around and living on a very loose schedule with the sole purpose of being present to the beauty of the surroundings and gathering inspiration for painting and photography studies throughout the city, surrounding townships and countryside. Wine, scenery and social experiences will be consumed. Art, synchronicity, serendipity, revitalized perspective, explosions of gratitude and deeper connection with human nature and the its most beautiful possible portrayal will certainly result.

This presentation will introduce teacher trainers in Doha to the concept of Ayurveda as a sister science/philosophy to Yoga. It is a two-part module, with this first part emphasizing the overall philosophy and fundamental elements such as doshas, prakriti as the individual constitution and vikriti as the imbalanced state and how to explore personalized holistic living through the lens of this age-old wisdom.

Students will be given a quiz and asked to reflect on their constitution before the second half of the module so that the information--on therapeutic approaches and diet--will resonate more deeply as related to their own unique constitutions.
