What is the opposite of preaching? Asking why. What is the sign opposed Sagittarius? Gemini.
We’re about to visit this axis with the Sun in Sagittarius and the Moon slipping directly across from it for a full reflection, highlighting where our knowledge ends. What do many people do if they don’t know something? Become a modern jackass, that’s what. Pretend to know more than they do and be an expert rather than say "hmm, I have no idea!"
But why do they do this? And why hasn’t anyone said "you know, enough of this! It's just as cool to not know!"
Because people are too scared by the patriarchal notion that you need to listen to authority (or be in authority) about everything to actually stop and ask why, and keep asking it. It is this process that, to the scholar (Sagittarius) or priest (Sagittarius) or teacher (Sagittarius) is so humiliating!
And yet it is that process that is the wisest of all, for even if you don’t emerge from it with a sense of “I KNOW what’s going on here!”—you do get a sense of what is going on that is quite current, street-level and applicable to the general public and the experience of masses.
To ask why opens a box. It inherently challenges authority. And yet, where would we be without the people who do this very thing?! Vaccines, solutions, improvements, everything we thrive on is based on asking why.
What I recommend doing now is imagine asking why in more situations than just disasters—instead of asking “oh pity, why is that happening?” You can start looking around you at more things that are assumed functional and ask: “Why is this happening this way?” Then work your way into other ideas or laws or basic products that you consume on a regular basis: “Why do I think this way? Why do I eat this?” Or even things like: "Who made my iPhone? Where did the material come from?”
Lots of things shift when we allow and challenge ourselves to open up based on a sense of curiosity rather than falling in line with the old guard.
This is a good thing to do on the full moon. Experience this axis—of preacher and inquisitive parishioner—in all of its glory. Perhaps you will find yourself unlocked from some dogmatic box and freed to think differently or act differently … perhaps this will nourish your soul somehow. And when your soul is free, all of ours are a little more.
Allow your mind to fly open with curiosity and see what happens. See if perhaps more delight comes in, more of a sense of empowerment that you can even ask such things, which maybe some invisible false being was telling you to just accept!
